Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using StoryDNA, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you may not use the service.

StoryDNA is a creative writing tool that helps writers develop their stories through guided question builders, AI-powered brainstorm suggestions, and analytical reports. These terms govern your use of all StoryDNA features and services.

User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activities that occur under your account.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use StoryDNA only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You may not use the service to generate harmful, abusive, or illegal content.

Intellectual Property

You retain full ownership of all content you create using StoryDNA. The StoryDNA platform, framework, and question content are owned by StoryDNA and protected by intellectual property laws.

All story content, answers, and creative works you produce within StoryDNA remain your intellectual property. You grant StoryDNA a limited license to process your content solely for the purpose of providing the service (e.g., generating AI brainstorm suggestions and reports based on your answers). This license terminates when you delete your account.

StoryDNA does not access, review, share, sell, or monetize your content beyond what is strictly necessary to operate the service. Your content is siloed to your account and is never cross-referenced with other users' work. Any similarities between your content and other published or unpublished creative works are entirely coincidental — StoryDNA has no mechanism to compare content across accounts or with external sources.

Payment Terms

StoryDNA offers a 14-day Pro trial for all new users with no credit card required. After the trial period, your account automatically downgrades to the Free tier. Paid subscriptions (Plus at $12/month or $120/year, Pro at $22/month or $220/year) are billed at the start of each billing period.

Credits

  • Your subscription includes a monthly credit allowance that is replenished to your plan's level at each billing cycle. Monthly credits do not accumulate beyond your plan amount.
  • Purchased credit packs are added to a separate purchased credit balance that does not expire.
  • When credits are consumed, monthly allowance credits are used first. Purchased credits are used only after the monthly allowance is exhausted.
  • Refund of a credit pack purchase results in the corresponding credits being removed from your purchased balance.
  • Refund of a subscription payment results in your account reverting to the Free tier with the Free tier credit allowance.
  • All refunds are processed as full refunds of the original transaction. Partial refunds are not available.

Subscriptions

  • Monthly subscriptions may be canceled at any time and remain active until the end of the current billing period. Monthly subscription payments are non-refundable.
  • Annual subscriptions may be canceled at any time and remain active until the end of the annual term. Annual subscription payments are non-refundable.
  • Goodwill refunds may be issued at our sole discretion.

Account Standing

  • If your payment method fails, AI-powered features will be temporarily unavailable until payment is resolved.
  • Filing a payment dispute (chargeback) will result in immediate suspension of AI-powered features and credit access until the dispute is resolved.

AI-Generated Content

StoryDNA provides AI-assisted brainstorming features. AI suggestions are provided as creative aids and should not be considered professional advice. You are responsible for all creative decisions in your work.

Content generated by StoryDNA's AI features (brainstorm suggestions and reports) is intended as creative inspiration and does not constitute professional writing, legal, or business advice. You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, and making final decisions about all content in your creative works. AI-generated suggestions may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate for your intended use.

Under current United States copyright law and guidance from the U.S. Copyright Office, works generated solely by artificial intelligence without meaningful human creative input may not be eligible for copyright protection. Because StoryDNA's AI features produce suggestions that you then review, edit, and incorporate into your own creative work, the resulting work reflects your creative authorship. However, we recommend consulting a qualified attorney for specific questions about copyright eligibility of AI-assisted works.

Limitation of Liability

StoryDNA is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

The service is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis without any service level agreement (SLA) or uptime guarantees. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any defects will be corrected. Our total liability for any claims arising from your use of StoryDNA shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to StoryDNA at our discretion if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles.
